I was reading an article on text visualisation and came across this site. Very cool B)

I've not completed a real blog post in a while - there are plenty sitting both in draft status and in my head, I'm sure I'll get to them eventually.

Neat trick (so long as whatever you're using to view this supports Unicode, and your font has full support for all the possible characters) - a little utility which translates each character of the input text, using a symbol lookup table, to a character somewhere in the Unicode character set which looks like that letter upside down.

06:20:26 pm Permalink Google Accessible Search

Categories: Amusements

A bit of Google day here in the Boog Link Blog. Discovered this earlier in the week. I was quite pleased to find that, mostly, pages I've been involved with do better on the accessibility search than they do on standard Google - my employer's website currently ranks fifth for our key search phrase on Google.com, but comes in second on the accessible search.

Also on the front page, but I couldn't figure out a permalink. Warning, language is not work safe :)
Edit: The link broke, so I've uploaded my own copy.Humorous pie chart blaming CSS, Firefox, Microsoft, Bill Gates and, mostly, IE6 for wasting web designers time

I was shown this site at the London Web Frameworks Night - it is built on Django and is the 'Youth culture' site of Lawrence local newspaper. Aside from being an interesting example of a web framework in action, it also features many MP3s uploaded by many of the groups in the thriving local band scene.

Nothing too clever, find out what the time is (to within less than a second) and view a nice map showing where the daylight seperator is (requires java plugin).

This was (and still is) my favourite theme for the Mozilla suite - I only found out this week it's available for Firefox too!

Categories: Amusements

Got a new graphics card today - a Radeon 9800Pro. Spent some time trying to get it working on my FC3 box, in the end I ignored the livna RPMs mentioned on the page above and installed the stock ATI RPM to get things working, but the rest of the instructions were pretty good.

A useful document for concerned parents? Notice how they don't actually specify who is performing the illegal activity. Parents, if you spot your children using these terms, please remember to ask them if they've been involved in illegal abuse of their market monopoly position or know of anyone who's been taken to court and convicted of the same.
